Calendar
Long Distance Events
Keswick to Barrow
This year it was on Saturday 10th May and info can be found
at: www.keswick2barrow.co.uk
It is a team entry and is co-ordinated by Alan Grace (alangrace@btinternet.com).
Alan lays on a
minibus to ferry wheelchairs from the start to the finish
and then handcyclists, their bikes and their
chairs back to the start if required. We hope to have over
10 handcyclists take part this year.
The Cumberland Challenge
This is a 110 miler, starting at Brampton near Carlisle.
However, the route is in a figure of 8, so it
lends itself to doing just half that distance on a handbike.
The 3rd Cumberland Challenge will take
place on Sunday 31st August 2008 and an entry form will be
available to download from 1st
February 2008. The website is: /www.thecumberlandchallenge.co.uk/index.htm
Extra note from Al: Entries have now opened for this event. Last
year we had 5 handcyclists at the
event and it would be great to see more there this year.
Enter the event directly, but put handcyclist
on your entry form.
The Furness 50
This is actually about 52 miles and runs from Barrow in
Furness, along the coast road and round
Coniston and back. This takes place in early September (date
to be confirmed) and info can be
found nearer the time at: www.topmarkonline.com
The Fred Whitton Challenge
This year it was on Sunday 11th May and the website is:
www.fredwhittonchallenge.org.uk.
Entries opened (and closed) , so it?s too late for this
year.
