Handcycle Open Forum on April 4th (listed 3/4/09)

You may be aware that as part of the next Handcycle Training Weekend at Stoke Mandeville on 4th/5th April, the HCAUK Committee will be hosting an open forum between 1pm - 2pm. The forum is in response to feedback and designed to forge closer links with handcyclists. The committee are concious that it needs to operate more transparently and in doing so, share work in progress. The forum will be an opportunity for you to contribute to discussion, propose and listen to ideas, challenge plans but, of more importance, shape handcycling in the UK to ensure it has continuity and sustainability. The committee at the moment is a small group of volunteers and as such we would welcome new members. Again the forum is an opportunity to forward an expression of interest.

If you have any questions regarding the forum, committee or handcycling in general please contact Barry North (HCAUK Chairman) Email: calshot@calshot.demon.co.uk

Last year Tim Ellison took part in the Ride The Rockies bike ride. See the website for details of this years' ride The dates for this year's ride is June 14-19th.

It's a once in a lifetime experience, though Tim is probably going to do again this year!! Good luck to those who take part.

Charity cycle ride on Isle of Wight on May 24th (listed14/3/09)

Looking for a challenging touring bike ride in the south of England?

We have received details about a charity cycle ride on the Isle of Wight on May 24th. We have been in contact with the organiser, Richard Morey, to check whether handcyclists could take part and it is alright for us to do so. It's a hilly course but manageable.

The ride is for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice and it is 63.2 miles long. This link is to Richards' motion based readout from his Garmin 305 edge.

The link to their site and Richard Moreys' email address and registration email. Please contact Richard if you are interested in taking part in the ride.

Keswick to Barrow cycle ride (liste 14/3/09)

It seems that some handcyclists will be taking part in the Keswick 2 Barrow bike ride this year on May 9th.

Al Grace is unable to organise a support vehicle this year as he has done in previous years. Paul Robinson would like to hear from people who are planning to ride the K2B. Paul would also like to know if you are willing to contribute to hiring a support van for the day. The cost would be about £75 plus petrol.

Please contact Paul directly Paul.Robinson2@jacobs.com or phone 0790 4416739
